Re-Blog! NaijaHusband : When You're Married To a Woman With Natural Hair

Hi Doves!
If you have not been following NaijaHusband blog, you need to start doing it now. It is a blog about a Nigerian newlywed couple who are not as typical as you would expect and blog anonymously as NaijaHusband and NaijaWife. They describe their newlywed adventures in a very comedic manner which always lands me in stiches. But their love for each other never fails to shine through and there is a lesson to be learnt in all the humour. The other day I was checking their blog and just had to share this post. I pity my future hubby in advance lol!

When you’re married to a woman with natural hair… or a woman who wears her own hair…or a woman with any hair at all to be honest, you have to grow accustomed to certain things.
Let me try to list a few.
1) Watching her Bathroom Turn into a Mad Scientist’s Laboratory
On any given day, NaijaWife, when not harassing me over my television watching, will disappear for hours. Once I don’t hear her asking me “what are you doing?” I know that means she has locked herself in the bathroom again.
I remember the first day I walked up to her bathroom door, curious to hear what was keeping her so long.  Smoke was coming out of the bottom of the door, and I think I heard some screams.
Moving closer, I could hear voices inside the bathroom (which I later realized were the faint sounds of a youtube video) giving her the following instructions:

Healthy Hair Meetup - Loving Your Hair

Hi Doves!

The hair meetup was at the University of Namibia main campus at the centre for external studies UCCB hall (old library upstairs). It was a lot of fun to meet people who have a keen interest in maintaining their hair and keeping it healthy.
The sound of India Arie's "I am not my hair" was playing, giving a fitting atmosphere for the discussions of the evening. As we began to find out seats,  the audience chatted with each other, trading tips, asking questions and complementing this or that person's hair do.

Hi Lovelies!

Let's roll out the red carpet and get our evening gowns on, it's award season in the bloggosphere. I was nominated by the lovely Petite Diva who blogs over at Musings of a Petite Diva. She writes on everything and anything that tickles her fancy, and it makes for pretty interesting reads. Thank you Petite for the nomination *sheds a tear whilst holding the award statuette*

Styling My Flexis - Days 2 - 4

Hi Doves

Here's what I did with my flexi rod set during the week.
I used coconut oil to moisturise my hair throughout because it penetrates the strands thus moisturising them.

Hair Meet Up In Windhoek

 Calling all healthy hair enthusiasts!

See you there

Styling my Flexi Rod Set - Day 1

  Hi everyone

Once I had removed the rods, I applied some coconut oil to my hands so that I could add shine and tame the frizz as I worked. I  then separated each curl into 3 or so sections,  twirled  them around my fingers and let them fall. Then I picked and fluffed the roots for mor volume. Pinned the sides with bobby pins and I was done.

Wash Day - Straight Flexin'

Hi Doves!

I finally undid my hair over the weekend and I miiiiiiiiiiisssed it! So I decided to pamper it and try out something new, a flexi rod set!
So I rubbed some olive oil on my braids and let that sit for a while, I started undoing them. It took me about three hours because I was detangling as I went. Once I undid a braid I would coat it with a mix of olive oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil, detangle with my fingers and then move on to my next braid. When a section was complete I twisted it up and moved on.

Wash Day: Braids Edition

Hey hey. This is was how my wash day went down last week Sunday (3 August). Seeing as I had braids, I  decided not to fuss too much about it. I had washed it the previous week as well, but it was nothing to write home about. So here we go.

1. Pre-shampooed for 1 hour with olive oil
2. Shampooed with ORS Invigorating Shampoo

GlamLush hair - Winnie

Hey Doves

I'm back at school so my blogging schedule will not be as frequent as before, but I promise to put out at least one post a week.

I have another lovely lady to feature. This is Winnie, she has been my friend since way back in primary school! She was relaxed, went natural and is now relaxed again. I just love how strong and thick her hair is...always! Anyway let me let her do most of the talking :-)

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your hair.
Hello:-)  My name is Winnie, I'm 22 years old and I'm a student at the University of Namibia. My hobbies include reading, drawing and spending time with family and friends. I have type 4c hair which is known to be the thickest and kinkiest hair type, lol.
