Product Review: Tropical Hair Butter

Hi all!

Today im going to be sharing my thoughts on this Tropical Hair Butter I purchased from Afrorage some time in July.

Afrorage is a small online shop which promotes natural hair care. They also have a blog and facebook page under the same name. I placed my order by sending them an inbox and after a few delays I finally got my butter and a free satin bonnet (it was a promotional special). The butter goes for N$ 120.00 and is only available from them because they manufacture it.

Product Review : African Pride Olive Miracle Anti Breakage Formula Maximum Strengthening Growth Oil

Hello everybody!

I want to share my thoughts on the Olive Miracle Anti Breakage Formula Maximum Strengthening Growth Oil manufactured by African Pride. Please product manufacturers can you PUH-LEASE, please, purizi shorten your product names? Okay thanks. I understand that 1. product names are in short supply because new ones are being made everyday and 2. you want to ensure the product name reflects its properties, but it really is a mouthful. I just call it olive miracle growth oil for short. Ok, on to the review.

I bought this at Pick 'n Pay for N$ 35..it is also available at clicks, dischem (grove mall) and some supermarkets and beauty shops.

Timing it! Finding time to keep up with your healthy hair journey

Hey everybody!

How are we doing? Good, bad, sad, happy, depressed, jolly, so-so? Im just alright.

You know, whenever I have my hair out and rock some lovely style, I always get 3 questions:

1. Wow, is this your hair?
2. Isn't it hard to manage natural hair? (If I had a dollar...#millionaire!)
3. What are you doing to it? It's really growing.

And then usually after I answer question 3...

"Wow, all that.. where do you find time to do it?" ,  "Eish I don't have that time!" or "You really have time to do you hair eh? I just can't manage"

Senegalese twists and multivite

Hey all..

Interesting header right?
Well I got some twists done to protect my hair. I feel between the wigging and flat twists and twists with my own hair i've been manipulating my hair too much. I have also been battling some split ends and want to minimise further splits. So i'll be in braids for the upcoming months. I prepped for these twists by washing with sunsilk shampoo and dc-ing with ors replenishing conditioner. This was my first salon visit since April, so I had to blow dry my hair to prepare it for the plaiting. These took about three hours to do. I had three ladies working on them, and then later two. I decided to go for this maroonish red colour for variety...so loving it!

Now in one of the hair chat groups i'm in, two of the ladies have been mixing their diy braid sprays with crushed multivite and got some good growth. So im testing it out to see if it works.

Molasses wash day *update*

 Hey all..

Just a brief post.

From my last post, people were wondering whether or not molasses is a humectant.

I hopped on to google and he let me on about the secrets of molasses. Turns out it is a humectant and shares similar properties to glycerine and honey. Some even say more so than honey! It is also a heavier humectant so it can elongate your curls after use, as compared to honey or gycerine. I personally noted this when I was applying it. My curls  and twist sections were quite stretched and the mix was heavier on my hair than usual.

So don't hesitate to add it to your deep conditioning mix the next time you want some extra moisturising  properties in your hair concoction. But I wouldn't advise keeping it as a leave in remedy because of its super thick and sticky nature.

Molasses Wash Day

Hey doves

This was a wash day I did before I got twists installed.
One of my hair group members let me on about how she uses molasses during some of her wash days..so I sped off to the kitchen to put it to work.

Molasses is the by-product from the sugar refining process and is known to be a very good dietary supplement. It is rich in sulfur, iron, B vitamins, selenium, manganese, zinc, and copper.
