Wash Day

Hey Doves

Been a minute since I last did a wash day post. Here is a rundown of my last two cleansing sessions

Sunday 28 September 2014

1. Pre-shampooed overnight with coconut oil
2 Washed with Clicks Kids Detangling Shampoo ( Sulfate Free)
3. Deep Conditioned with ORS Nourishing Conditioner with heat, for 1 hour.
It left my hair so soft, yet strong. I was in mini-twists so 1 packet was sufficient for the whole head.
4. Rinsed out and did an apple cider vinegar rinse.
5. Air dried, then applied sta sof fro braid spray and tropical hair butter

Very white looking products these past two weeks

Sunday 5 October 2014

1. Pre-shampooed overnight with coconut oil
2. Detangled with a medley of conditioners (revlon aquamarine green apple, palmolive green apple, and tresemme thermal recovery). Detangling review will be up shortly.
3. Shampooed with Clicks Kids Detangling Shampoo once.
4. Deep conditioned with tresemme thermal recovery conditioner, coconut oil, honey, coconut milk and african pride olive miracle growth oil for 40 minutes. I was watching the Big Brother Launch show,  so my only option was to rinse out during the adverts.
5. No leave in rinse ( was watching BBA LOL)
6. Air dried then moisturised with glyco-lemon leave in conditioner and a mix of castor oil and tropical hair butter.
7. Put my hair in 9 braids and called it a night.

The coconut milk

Coconut milk spoils easily in the fridge, so once the can has been opened I put it in a lunch box and freeze it. Then I use it as needed. You can get it from the supermarkets and at food lover's market ( fruit & veg city). Retails form N$ 14.00 to N$18.00 depending on where you purchase it.

The changing tide..

I love how my hair felt after the dc, strong yet soft. I have realised  that as my hair has grown longer, I need doses of light protein more often than before. At shoulder length I could get away with a light protein treatment once a month. But now that i'm at armpit length, I find myself using light protein two to three times a month depending on the state of my hair and how often I moisturise it. This is because my ends need more protein to keep strong and healthy.

I've also realised that detangling with a cheapie conditioner before I shampoo has helped with the wash day process. Previously I would finger detangle exclusively with oil, pre-shampoo and then wash. Now i'm pre-shampooing with oil overnight and using the condish to detangle right before my wash. It has helped minimise  breakage. I'll continue with this to see how beneficial it will be in the long run.

Any changes to your regimen of late?
Okay school is going to be wild for me for the next two weeks, so I wont be able to post much. But I have scheduled a few posts to keep you company whilst i'm away.

  2. Nice dc additions. I'm loving the shorter wash days I get now that I dc on dry hair. It also helps with detangling

    1. The two in one dc-prepoo is fast. I prefer dc-ing on wet hair, but that's a nice quick fix when pressed for time. Remind me to do that next wash day, It may just become a fixture too.

    1. Hi Annon, if your hair is shorter that 6 inches, you don't really need to wash in sections. But if it tangles easily or is longer than 6 inches, but still relatively short do this:
divide your hair in sections, then secure each section with a hair clip/ butterfly clip. I wrote a post on them here http://glamlushhair.blogspot.com/2014/06/hidden-dangers.html. Then when you wash, apply shampoo to one section at a time, then rinse and re-clamp. When deep conditioning, you can add the conditioner to one section at a time and then re-clamp. Once the conditioner is in all the sections you can let it sit for the recommended amount of time, then rinse out. Hope this helps, let me know how it turns out.
