The Trouble with Presents......Is Debt!

Hi doves

How are we all? Enjoying the festive season?

Mine has begun with a slow start, so there isn't much partying going on. But there has definitely been some present exchanging.

See presents are nice, you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you open them. Smile at the thoughtfulness of the gift giver and thank them profusely. Then the dreaded realisation hits you that they probably might, certainly, will definitely want something just as nice or better in return. *scratched record* Yeah... Am I the only one who has felt like this before..no?

Product Hits and Misses I didn't Blog About

Hi Doves!

As the year is drawing to a close, I had a look over all the stuff I have used. I think i'm becoming a product junkie, eish...

This post is dedicated to the products I have used but did not review, because they were over shadowed by other posts lol.

Extra hits of 2014

Rosewater and Glycerine

I added this rosewater and glycerine mix to my regular sta-sof-fro braid spray. It provided lasting moisture well after I had sprayed it. My hair was soft and happy, I just wanted to cry. Definitely an add-on to my braid spray.

Braids Wash Day Ft Black Soap Shampoo

Hi hi

Hope we are all good.

Been a while since I posted a wash day, so im sharing my latest cleansing session.
I rolled up my sleeves for a full DIY session, majorly out of need.

My current sulfate free shampoo which I was testing out is really not working out for me. I've written it off as a miss, because although sulfate free and cheap, it causes tangles and leaves my hair feeling hard and stripped. So goodbye Clicks Kids' Detangling Shampoo, I'll  be leaving you in 2014.

In my bid to get a sulfate free cleanse, I looked at my trusty Dudu Osun black soap and thought now is as good a time as ever to test it out as a shampoo. So I grated a bit off, then dissolved it in hot water. I just eye-balled all the measurements. It lathers up so much and the water was really slippery, I smiled! I then poured it into my spray bottle and left it to dissolve fully and cool whilst I enjoyed myself in town.

When I got home it was wash time. Braids wash days are the easiest and fastest for me because I don't have to do all that detangling and sectioning, and twisting that comes with loose hair.

So I wet my braids thoroughly, then sprayed my scalp. I worked up a lovely lather. My roots did not feel stripped at all after two lathers. I was pleasantly surprised as some say that the black soap leaves their hair dry. #winning

I Committed a Crime Against Hairmanity....

Hi Doves

I am here to report myself for a crime in the hair world. I'm a first-time offender for this particular offence..not particularly proud of it.

Erm...
 welllllll
     I uh...
I Kinda, sort of removed my twists and installed braids the next day *hides*

Why is this wrong?
Long term protective styling is meant to protect the hair from the elements as well as aid in retaining length. However the hair goes under some strain during the braiding process. And although you wash and deep condition in a protective style, you still need to give it at least one to two weeks of deep conditioning, moisturising, tlc, pampering, loving and to assess your hair for any damage or areas that you need to pay special attention to. After this period, you can rebraid, put a weave, do cornrows etc. Therefore your hair needs a break between styles.
