Product Review: Glyco-Lemon Leave On Conditioner

Hi Doves

This was the first ever leave-in conditioner I purchased when I started my healthy hair journey. I use this and Dr Miracle's Curl Care Leave In Conditioner in alternation. Im not one to mess with leave-ins because they are the life or death of my hair. I can have a bad wash day  with products that don't agree, but my leave-in will save me. That is why in all my journey, I have only ventured into these two. DC's come and go, but these no *lols* And when I'm low on cash, the glyco-lemon is my go-to. About time I reviewed it!

Purchased at Pick n Pay for N$ 18. Also available at spar, checkers, woerman brock and most supermarkets.

There is no product promise, but the directions state to apply after shampooing and to work it in gently. And not to rinse off.

How I used it: to moisturise my hair, as a deep conditioner base

Loving

  • that it is budget friendly
  • that it is moisturising
  • that a little goes a long way
  • that it's available at so many places
  • its semi-liquid, semi-creamy consistency
  • its light formula doesn't weigh the hair down
  • its versatility

Not so loving
  • the scent
  • it contains mineral oil
  • it contains a host of parabens
My final thoughts
When I first got this, I did not really care so much about the mineral oil content, I just wanted a good leave-in, and to me it is just that. As soon as I seal it in with castor oil, my hair stays moisturised and very soft for two days. It is not as good as my favourite Dr Miracle's Leave in, but it is the next best for me. I also love that I can use it as a base for my deep conditioners, I simply add oils and any extras and my hair loves me afterwards.
I would not recommend it for those who don't like parabens or mineral oil in their products.

Ingredients: Aqua, cetearyl alcohol, cetrimonium bromide, stearyl alcohol, mineral oil, phenoxyethanol, polyquartenium-37, isostearoyl hydrolyzed collagen, ppg-1 trideceth-6, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben.

Have you tried this leave-in conditioner before and what is your favourite leave in?

  1. Looks like the good outweighs the bad. If you are shampooing regularly. Mineral oils and parabens shouldn't be a problem! And once you find something your hair has no issues with, keep it! Have a blessed day!

  4. I used it the first time...trust me that's my last time. Within the 2nd day after use, my scalp started peeling off. I had to wash my hair twice to remove all those flakes. Price wise it's reasonable but I won't ever use it again.

    1. its absolute rubbish! once left in hair ,it looks like hair has oil on it, hair will not hold a style, hair is DULL, NO SHINE! and trying to go wash mit out? well, another full on shampoo is required to get it out of your hair< then go use your normal wash out conditioner..what a waste!!

  10. First day using it. I used it in conjunction with the shampoo, as well the the organic conditioner! My hair is super soft. Not too bad I give it a 7 or 8 of 10, I still prefer the Cantu leave in.
