Wash Day

Hi doves

I had my wash day this past sunday. I preshampooed at around  1 or 2, but only started out with the actual washing a lil late in the evening afternoon at 5:30 so I was done at 9 pm. Don't know why I start wash days so late these days...

1. Finger detangled and pre-shampooed with a mixture of olive oil and coconut oil. The covered with a plastic grocery bag  [recycle, recycle :-)] for about 3 hours while I was busy with some house chores.

2. Shampooed with ORS Hairepair invigorating shampoo (it's sulphate free :-) ). Concentrating the shampoo on my roots and allowing the run off to cleanse the rest of my strands. I did not lather the whole section, just the roots. Rinsed out and t-shirt dried my hair for 20 mins

3. Deep conditioned with the ors replenishing pak, olive oil, aloe vera juice and castor oil mix [also added a few drops of my mum's lavender and jojoba oils]. I Detangled with my wide tooth comb as I applied the condish to each section. Covered my hair with an old plastic grocery bag and deep conditioned with heat for 20 mins. Then allowed to cool for 20 mins.

4. Rinsed out DC. Poured my sage, peppermint and apple cider vinegar (acv) tea rinse over my hair. Did not rinse out.
Tea rinse before I strained out the leaves
5. T-shirt dried for about 30 mins

6. Applied Dr Miracle's curl care leave in conditioner and sealed with castor oil

7. Air dried in twisted sections overnight

*I t-shirt dry because a towel is too rough for the hair and dries it out too much. I also noticed that when I use an old t-shirt my hair is softer than when I use a towel.
* I air dry because weekly use of heat is bad for the hair.
*Sage is known to darken hair, help with any scalp issues and promote growth.
*Apple cider vinegar removes build up, has vitamins and minerals that revitalise the hair and scalp, prevents a dry itchy scalp and smooths the cuticle of the hair
*Peppermint darkens hair colour and helps to refresh and revitalise the scalp. It also keeps the scalp healthy. That is why i love using these in a tea rinse. I Don't have any itchy scalp anymore.
*Deep conditioning with heat helps the ingredients to penetrate the hair shaft better and faster than when done without heat. I simply use a blow dryer over my plastic bag. (Note to self get a heating cap or hooded dryer asap). The heat also stimulates blood flow to the scalp which aids in growth.

So that was my wash day folks. I also did a length check but I don't want to make this post too long, so it's coming up in my next post. And gosh, guys I really can't wait to show you my progress cause I accomplished my first length goal!!! More to come..stay tuned :-)
